What are you watching on television?

I don’t watch a ton of tv but when I do I want it to be something relaxing.  Something enjoyable and soothing for the mind.  Fortunately there are so many shows available to us to whisk us away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  There are nature documentaries which are so serene and truly a relaxing escape to a world of wonder and beauty.  A feel-good sitcom is also a great choice to get lost in.  I think of “Friends”, “Seinfeld”, “Curb”, “Schitts Creek”, and The Office.”  The characters and humor are so great!   Culinary shows are another great option. Watching chefs create delectable dishes is such an inspiration.  I will probably never cook anything as involved as what they create, but it is so therapeutic to watch!  It amazes me what great chefs they are!   What about game shows?  I love to watch “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy.” 

In times of turmoil,  when you really need to relax, it’s comforting to know that there is a good show waiting for you like a warm embrace. 

My go-to show is “The Amazing Race.  I love it!  You get so involved.  The show is so exciting that you can get a heart palpitation  but you get so into it that your mind relaxes.  It’s about teams that travel around the world.  They are in a race to win One million dollars.  They have tasks to do that are indicative of the country that they are racing in.  You get to see beautiful sights from all over the world and the unique cultures of the countries are shown.  I think the show is so well done and totally keeps your interest.  You eventually pick a favorite team and root for them.  The host Phil Keoghan explains the culture of the countries that they are in and what task the teams have to complete to get their next clue.  Read more about “The Amazing Race.” 

Do you have a go-to show that helps you unwind and relax?  If so, what show do you love?  My new thing is to make a cup of decaf green tea and watch my show.  It really is relaxing.  (I must admit I will have a few low sugar chocolate chunk cookies with the healthy green tea)  Do you do something other than watch a show to relax?  Do you meditate?  And of course working out is a great tension reliever. What’s your go-to?
