I’m not giving up on love!

I guess everyone who followed the “Golden Bachelor” has heard the bombshell bachelor news!  After only three months of marriage, Gerry and Theresa are getting divorced.  Just a few short months ago they seemed so in love.  Gerry said  that Theresa was the one that he “couldn’t live without.”   What happened?

The couple was interviewed this morning on Good Morning America.  They said that they still love each other but………

What could the “but” be?   Gerry lives in Indiana and Theresa lives in New Jersey.  To me that has to be the major issue.  They each have their families in their home states.  How do you pick yourself up after so many years and move away from your children and grandchildren?  When we are starting out before children it’s still hard to leave family but definitely easier than if you already have children.  Yes, you can be “geographically undesirable.”

I wonder if Gerry is going to date any of the other women from the show.  He seemed to really have a strong connection with Leslie.  And what about Susan Noles?  She is so full of life and love!  It would be something to see her and Gerry date after she officiated the marriage of Gerry and Theresa.  Crazy things happen.  You never know!

It is sad that their marriage is ending.  I don’t know the real reason that it is over but the geography seemed like a very possible reason.  Do you think that where they live is the reason or do you think that there is more to it?

I’m definitely not going to let this change my feelings about finding love after a certain age.  Yes the older we get we do have more baggage that we bring to a relationship. The key is finding a person that will help you unpack!

What are your thoughts on what happened?

  1. A wonderful article on love for the older generation. It inspired me to never give up on the only one in your life no matter the circumstances. Remember, for every pot, there’s a lid and for every man there’s a woman.

  2. Elyse, I could never watch the show because it is not reality. I agree, one should never give up on love. However, finding it on a TV show for all the world to see just doesn’t seem plausible. I think we should stick to reality.

    1. Hi Maxine,
I’m sure that you are right, but I just love watching I guess the fantasy of it. I realize it is not reality but kind of wish it was.
