One of my favorite things to do when I am in Manhattan is to walk on the upper east side. I love walking up and down Madison Avenue. My strolling partners are my niece and my daughter. We usually walk down from the 80’s. I love that part of the upper east side. The shops are so pretty. The scent of beautiful perfumes mingle with the city air, creating an inviting environment for window shopping. Believe it or not, the area also has a small town feel about it. When the weather is on the warmer side it also has a Hampton’s vibe. There are sidewalk cafes and upscale bistros that give you that out east feeling. I love it!
Madison Avenue has the best boutiques to window shop and visit. It is also the best location to spot a celeb!
On the corner of Lexington and 83rd there is an old-fashioned soda shop called Lexington Candy Shop. Looking at the soda shop brings me right back to Brooklyn, 1965, sitting in a luncheonette sipping on an egg cream. The best throwback feeling!
The day that we were strolling along Madison Avenue was a warm Fall day so after a while we were ready for an iced coffee. My niece directed us to Bel Ami Cafe on 68th and Madison. .
I have never been to this Cafe before but I loved it right away! So cozy and cute! I wish we had time to sit down and try some of the beautiful desserts that we saw. But we did get iced vanilla lattes. Probably the best iced latte I have ever had! It must have been because I’ve been thinking about that latte a lot ever since I had it!
We walked along sipping on our iced lattes and loving every sip. We did some more window shopping and walked into L’Occitane on 80th and Madison.
I wanted to sample everything in the store. It was like a candy store of lotions and potions of skin care. Everything looked so pretty. My niece directed us right over to the shower oil. She said it is life changing. Well, at least shower and bath changing. Weeks later, I have to say that it most definitely is! I can’t shower without it. First, I use my regular bar soap, and then finish my shower with this wonderful shower oil. The scent is light and so yummy!! Definitely a treat for the shower!
There are so many great areas to visit in Manhattan, but if you are on the Upper East Side definitely take a stroll on Madison Avenue. You can also visit The Met and Central Park! (same area)
Do you have a favorite area in Manhattan? If so, what area is it and what makes it special to you?
