Do you like it Spicy?

Spices have been cherished for centuries not only for their ability to enhance the flavor of dishes but also for their numerous health benefits.  Turmeric, is known for its vibrant yellow hue.  It contains curcumin, a compound with potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.  Consuming turmeric regularly has been linked to reducing inflammation, improving brain health, and even lowering the risk of heart disease.

Another beloved spice, cinnamon, is not only delicious but also offers several health advantages.  Cinnamon is packed with antioxidants that help combat oxidative stress and inflammation in the body.  It has also been studied for its potential to regulate blood sugar levels, making it beneficial for individuals with diabetes or those aiming to manage their blood glucose levels effectively.

Ginger, with its distinctive spicy flavor, is a staple in many cuisines and traditional medicine practices.  Gingerol, the active compound in ginger, is known for its anti-nausea properties and its ability to alleviate digestive discomfort.  Additionally, ginger has been shown to possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, contributing to overall health and well-being.

Last, but not least, garlic is recognized not only for its pungent flavor but also for its numerous health-promoting properties.  Garlic contains allicin, a sulfur compound with potent antibacterial and antiviral properties.  Regular consumption of garlic has been associated with strengthening the immune system, lowering blood pressure, and reducing the risk of certain cancers.  Incorporating these spices into your diet can not only enhance the taste of your meals but also provide a plethora of health benefits, making them valuable additions to any meal!

Last week I was in Grand Central Station with my daughter and my friend.  Grand Central is definitely grand and beautiful with so much to look at.  The architecture is beautiful!  They have a beautiful food court with many types of cuisine, as well as “Grand Central Oyster Bar” which has been there for over 100 years!  I want to go back and try it.  It was packed so you know the food is fresh!

In Grand Central Station is the “Grand Central Market.” It is such a special and beautiful market.  They have everything.  Meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, pastries, candies, cheeses, etc.  Within the food market there is a beautiful Spice shop called “Spices and Tease.”  I have never seen so many spices all in one place!  They were so beautiful.  Such vibrant colors! It seemed that they offered every spice that you could possibly want.  If you are passing through Grand Central Station, definitely stop by the food market!  There is so much to look at.  Everything looks so great.  Bring an insulated bag so you can shop and carry your delectable treats home!

Do you use spices in your food?  Which spices are your favorites?

  1. Sounds like a wonderful experience! Unfortunately, I like spices but they don’t like me! Many spices affect my esophagus. Love the pictures!🌶️

    1. Hi Maxine! I’m definitely not an expert on spices but I was told that we should take Turmeric every day. I love gummy vitamins so I bought the turmeric gummies. They look awful. I can’t bring myself to try it. The capsules are too large. If anyone knows of a small turmeric capsule please let me know!

    1. Hi Steven, I’m so happy that you liked the photos. The spices are so colorful! I bought turmeric gummies but can’t bring myself to try one. They don’t look good.
